Summer is approaching and you are thinking about where to go on vacation. You would really like to do something different and exciting this year and maybe go someplace new. Feria de las Flores Medellin
Why not try something totally different and plan a visit to Medellin Colombia for the annual Medellin Flower Festival, Feria de las Flores. This is by far the largest event of the year in the city and tourists and visitors come from all over the world to experience it. I am told they use more flowers than the rose parade but have not found a source to confirm it. The festival supposedly holds 2 Guinness Book of World Records Titles. The largest outdoor horse parade (over 7,000 horses and riders participate each year); The largest outdoor flower parade. In 2009, they celebrated their 52nd anniversary.
Could care less about seeing a bunch of flowers? How about a 3 hour long antique and classic auto parade? Bands and Concerts all over the city everyday for 10 days? The worlds largest outdoor horse parade called Cabalgata? Or maybe you would just like to experience a city that is in party mode for 10 to 12 straight days?
People dancing and partying in the streets. A party atmosphere that doesn't stop during the entire 10 to 12 day festival and continues into the night everyday making this the best nightlife time to visit Medellin.
Better book early as Medellin accommodations fill up quickly. Expect to pay a small premium but you should not be gouged.
Bring your camera or video or both for some photos and footage you can share with your friends, family and co workers of an event they never dreamed about attending. After seeing your handywork, maybe they will book next year.
Keep an eye on the events section on this site for updates on this years festival dates and schedule of events. The festival usually falls on the last few days of July or the first two weeks in August.
